“Red Tails” Actors Are Not The 1st Black Cast To Be Deemed “Internationally Unappealing”

George Lucas has been working to make “Red Tails”, a film about the Tuskegee Airmen (American fighter pilots), for 23 years.  For George Lucas, who was has been behind such blockbuster hits as “Star Wars”, “American Graffiti”, “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, and “Indiana Jones”, it seems absolutely absurd that after putting his personal stamp on any film, he would have an ounce of trouble getting it produced. Nevertheless, film studios refused to financially back the film stating that the all-star African American cast, which includes Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrance Howard and singer NeYo (all of who are global celebrities in their own right) would not appeal to an international audience.
